Do you provide Event photography and videography services? – I do not provide event photography or videography, guest coverage and image capture during the event at this time, this includes weddings. Event photography and videography coverage are specialized services different from portraiture. I can provide a portraiture session on the day of and at a location for an event.
What is a Session? – A session is where we create the images that can be used to create artwork. These sessions can be used to capture individuals or groups. Often clients choose to have a session to create artwork to commemorate a life event like marriage, births, family reunions/family visiting from out of town, age milestones, and to commemorate personal achievements.
What to expect during the session? – My preparation begins 30-60 minutes prior to the session: unloading, setting up lights, backdrops and lighting treatments. If a one hour session is scheduled for 6pm at your home, then I will arrive between 5pm and 5:30pm. the 2 hour session is an hour of photography from 6pm to 7pm. The session can be as formal or informal as the client desires. Some clients want a more experimental and explorative session, other clients want a more structured portraiture experience where individuals and groups are posed intentionally in specific arrangements. It is whatever the client desires. If the location for the session is indoors, especially a home, many clients are surprised by how much room is required for portraiture. It is common to temporarily have to relocate furniture to make room. This is why I encourage that the pre-session appointment is in the location so I can see the physical space ahead of time and plan accordingly.
What is a pre-session appointment? – The pre-session appointment is where we discuss what images the client wants to capture, the themes, the locations, the session date and time. The pre-session appointment is where session pricing, artwork options and pricing are presented.
Do you do outdoor sessions? – Yes, certain times of day work better than others. The hour after sunset in the evening is called "the golden hour" for a reason, and some really good images can be made in this light.
What about public locations? – Some public locations have regulations and even fees for photography sessions. Sometimes there is a permit, sometimes there is a fee, and in some cases of privately owned publicly accessible areas photography is prohibited. During the Pre-session appointment these details are discussed with the client.
What about weather? – If the client chooses an outdoor session weather may prevent the session from occurring. In the pre-session appointment alternative dates and times are discussed should in climate weather occur.
What is an ordering appointment? – The ordering appoint is where I present the client with the select images from our session, the client can then choose what image(s) to use in what artwork and I take the order.
Do you provide digital image files? – For each piece of artwork purchased I provide a PGN file of the image used in the artwork that is suitable for posting on social media and display on the internet.
What printing service do you use? – I use WhiteWall, an internationally known printing house and frame shop that is used by artists and galleries around the world.
I had a session and purchased from you previously, how do I get more artwork? – Contact me and I'll be happy to schedule an ordering appointment to go over the artwork you desire and make the order.
Do you make headshots? – Yes, headshots are just like any other session, and during the ordering appointment artwork for a headshot is selected and purchased.
Do you provide school wide portraiture services? – I do not provide school wide portraiture services where each student comes in for every class, group portraits for each class, staff, and faculty portraits for class pictures and school yearbooks.
Do you work with bands? – Yes, I'm a musician myself, and a session for a band is like any other portraiture session, but may also expand to collaborate with designers on promotional and album artwork.
